#TopTenTuesday | 29th July 2025: Books with a Holiday/Vacation Vibe #Top10Tuesday #bookblogger #bookish #amreading #TTT #BookTwitter #booktwt #BookX #BookSky #damppebbles

Hello and a very warm welcome to damppebbles. It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post. I’ve decided to take part in That Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday meme to mix things up a little here at damppebbles. Add a little bit of variety to our bookish weeks.

The meme was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but has lived with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl since January 2018. It was created to encompass a love of books, of lists and to bring readers together. If you would also like to take part then you’re very welcome: the more, the merrier. Just make sure you link back to Jana’s post every week. If you don’t have a blog then no problem, just add your list to the comments below.

This week’s theme is Beach/Beachy Reads (share books you’d take to the beach OR books that take place at the beach.) This is an interesting one. I’ve recently shared a Top Ten Tuesday list of destination thrillers which is, in most cases, what I think of when I think of ‘beach reads’. I’d take a destination thriller to the beach AND they often feature beaches. Saying that, not every book on my destination thriller list is set somewhere hot. Some are set in cold, snowy, mountainous places. Hmmmm… I think I’m going to go with Books with a Holiday/Vacation Vibe this week. A number of books I haven’t mentioned before as part of TTT immediately spring to mind. Beach reads but hopefully different beach reads to the ones I shared before…😉😂

1. Out of Her Depth by Lizzy Barber

2. The Palazzo by Kayte Nunn

3. The Surf House by Lucy Clarke

4. Notes on a Murder by B.P. Walter

5. The Family Retreat by Bev Thomas

6. The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz
A ‘working’ holiday but still a holiday! I wouldn’t recommend booking this one. I know how it ends for the characters 😬😲😱 Actually, that’s the case with ALL of the books listed so far…

7. The Last Word by Taylor Adams
Emma, the main character, is housesitting for three months. In my opinion, still a holiday if it’s a beach house you’re looking after!

8. My Husband’s Killer by Laura Marshall

9. Summer Fever by Kate Riordan

10. Little Nothings by Julie Mayhew

I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to come up with ten books, but in the end I had more books than space on this week’s list! This may be a list I repeat in the future because of that. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. There are a number of brilliant books on this list. Some real favourites.

Have you read any of these books? Do you enjoy destination thrillers? What books are you taking to the beach with you this summer? Or is it winter where you are? In which case, what books are you reading to keep the chills at bay? Are you taking part in Top Ten Tuesday this week? Let me know in the comments.

So there we have it! If you fancy joining in next week then head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl’s blog to find out what the next topic is!
